Today I wanna compare registration of tm in US, Canada, Australia.
Lets start from the easiest one. Australia.
Online form on a website pretty easy, and took about 10 mins. All questions are simple, nothing's special. I applied 27th of June, and I got my certificate 17th of January, so it took 6 months. I've applied for another tm 2 months after applying for this one, so will wait for another certificate the next 2 months.
Officers didn't contact me, didn't ask me anything. They even described my logo themselves, I just uploaded it to the website.
An officer contacted me about some info in my application by email. I changed something in my application through email. They confirmed. That's it. No more questions or emails.
Hmm. When I was applying for tm registration online, I spent 1 hour at least. There are many questions. Some of them really tricky. I should had read them few times to get it. An officer'd contacted me, my applications had few mistakes, I should had corrected the through an online form with the same tricky questions. The officer suggested me better describing for my logos, but she hadn't changed anything, I should had done that myself. Actually I'd copied the first describing from the AU website, the au tm officer's described it this way. But of cause the american suggested describing was more detailed, and I've copied her recommendation to online form.
When I'd just been applied, I received many advertised emails. Some company even put my logos to their websites database and any user could comment it. Actually I even read them. Some users tried to guess for what type of business I wanna use it, then other users made jokes about it.
When I was making changes on online application (after the Officer's letter), I received few more spam letters from tm registration company. Some of them were pretended to look like from the US TM registration website, because the body of letter had the same structure and language. These letters even contend link to pay for a registration tm ostensibly from US office. US office even sent me a letter about this situation that users should be careful.
We'll wait for next update of my case from offices.
